Courses on offer at P.B.T.

Professional Beauty Training Courses are mainly run from Stockton on the Forest near York, North Yorkshire, although there are also selected courses running near Newcastle as well as 'in spa or in salon' (minimum numbers required). Please contact us for more information on any of our training courses.

All PBT courses will be supported by specially produced comprehensive course handbooks and manuals. The course fee also includes the products and materials required for the training day and a valid certificate for insurance purposes. The courses cover information on the Health and Safety guidelines relevant to that particular area, the history of treatment procedure and plenty of hands-on practical.

PBT use professional products and all of the products demonstrated and used during the training, as well as kits and equipment, are available to purchase at wholesale prices.

Courses which are structured for total beginners will include a combination of training, case studies, assessment, workshops, and study into relevant anatomy and physiology.

Before students can undertake other courses, it may be necessary for them to hold a BABTAC / Guild approved Anatomy & Physiology certificate. If a student does not have one of these or if they have no prior knowledge of beauty, this can be achieved by attending PBT's Anatomy & Physiology course.

Refresher courses are the perfect choice for those wanting to; update their skills, return to work or just expand their beauty knowledge. Teaching on refresher courses include demonstrations, seminars and hand-on workshops. PBT's advanced courses are also ideally suited for refreshers or in order to expand knowledge further in subjects such as advanced make-up techniques. You could also choose to gain holistic complementary therapy certificates, including Indian Head Massage.

Anatomy & Physiology ~ study at home

This BABTAC / Guild Approved course is required as a foundation to other courses if you are new to the industry or as a refresher. The course will cover the following systems of the body:- skin structure, skeletal, muscles, lymphatic, blood circulation and nervous system relating to head, neck and shoulders or full body.

Anatomy & Physiology ~ ONLINE course

The Guild Online Anatomy and Physiology Course for Beauty and Holistic Therapists provides students with a Guild accredited home learn programme which is fully supported throughout the course. The course includes Marlin's excellent 216 page full colour text book Anatomy & Physiology for Holistic Therapists' plus an online learning system which includes extra learning materials, websites links and online quizzes for you to complete. You study the manual at home, and then log on to the online system to review any extra material and complete the quizzes.

Facial Therapy

We recommend attending this course as a foundation to other face related treatment course.

Day 1 will cover skin analysis, skin terminology, skin types, client beauty facial course consultation, superficial and deep cleanse procedure, how to perform a selection of facials using different masks, face, neck & shoulder massage routine will be included as well as product understanding & knowledge. A full demonstration will be given and students will have ands on practice in the afternoon. Students are asked to complete 5 case studies & complete questions. Includes work pack to cover Anatomy & Physiology relating to head, neck and shoulders.

Day 2 will be approximately 3 weeks later and run from 10am to 2pm approx. Students will be assessed practically and there will be an opportunity for discussion of workpacks, case studies feedback.

Glam Lash Semi Permanent Eyelash Extensions

Semi Permanent Eyelash Extensions are one of the fastest growing beauty treatments today. Lash Extensions provide length and thickness to natural eyelashes. The effect can last up to 3 months. This procedure must be carried out by a trained professional.

Eyelash Perming

Using the Amirose eyelash perming system, students will learn this very popular treatment which lasts up to 6 to 8 weeks. Lashes appear longer, good for holidays. Students will learn the background, safe and hygienic procedures, troubleshooting, marketing and promotion and full hands on practical work.
Approximate time: 10am to 2pm/3pm half day.
Cost: £99 per student. BABTAC / Guild Approved Certificate.

Eye Enhancement

Students will learn how to tint brows & lashes and how to shape the eye eyebrow shape brows. Also individual and strip lash application to ensure added glamour for their clients.

Manicure

Students will learn all the required skills & knowledge to perform the perfect manicure treatment for their clients including luxury treatment. The course also covers anatomy and physiology of the hand, cuticle care, filing, enameling and hand and arm massage.

Nail Extensions

One System Gel or Acrylic
Day 1 Health & Safety, contra-indications, tip application, nail preparation, product application, shaping and refining of product.
Day 2 Rebalance of product, repeat product application, homework as required - four full sets, practical assessment.

Nail Art

Excite and impress your clients by finishing off your manicure, nail enhancements or pedicure with some fun or sophisticated nail art. Tutor demonstrations and practical hands on workshop.
Approximate time: 10am to 2pm half day.

Pedicure

Students will learn all the required skills & knowledge to perform the perfect pedicure treatment for their clients including luxury treatment. The course also covers anatomy & physiology of the foot, cuticle care, filing, enameling and foot and leg massage.

Cosmetic Make Up Application

Using the Make-Up International face to face range, students will learn the most effective and professional way to apply day & evening / occasional make-up to their clients in order to ensure the very best results. The course considers the differing needs of various face shapes.
Approximate time: 10am to 4pm 1 day.

Advanced Make Up Techniques

Learn even more tricks of the trade on the advanced make-up application course. The course will cover an introduction to photography make-up including bridal, glamour and fashion make-up. Courses can be tailor made on request.

Warm Wax Depilation (Hair Removal)

This is a 1.5 day course, where following the first day, students will be required to undertake case studies, before returning for the second day and assessment a few weeks later. Students will learn how to apply and remove warm wax safely and professionally. Study into; contra indications, physiology & anatomy, hair growth cycle, the benefits of warm wax and the background and science of how the wax is made will be undertaken on the course. The course will be taught by a combination of practical workshop work, theory and demonstration. The areas of the body covered are; legs, underarm, bikini, top lip & chin and eyebrows. This course is specially developed for the absolute beginner and will also cover the roller waxing system.

Warm Wax Depilations (Hair Removal) - Refreshers Course

This course is ideal as a refresher, to gain CPD points or if you would like to change your waxing system. The course will also cover the roller waxing system.

7th Heaven Facial – Total Holistic Experience

This wonderful facial incorporates the body and soul combination of specially adapted massage movements; Indian head massage, pressure point and lymph drainage are used within this treatment to create a feeling of total peace of harmony in our stressful world today. The Chakras are identified and balanced by using visual identification techniques. Crystals are used to balance the Chakras and pendants are used to identify any blockages. This is the first facial to incorporate crystals within the facial routine: whilst the mask is applied, the appropriate crystals are selected and placed within the mask onto the face. Indian Head Massage

Students will learn the relaxing art of Indian Head Massage, which will enable them to offer this fantastic, popular and relaxing treatment to all their clients. Areas covered include; a background into this Ayurvedic treatment, routine of massage movements, identifying different oils and their benefits, how to adapt the treatment for different clients, relaxation techniques and a discovery of the Chakras - what they are, where they are, what they mean and how to balance them!
Approximate time: 10am to 5pm 1 day.

Holistic Body Massage

The first 3 days of this 5 day course are usually spaced one week apart and cover the history and benefits of massage, different massage techniques and moves, safe and hygienic practices, contra-indications, consultation, anatomy and physiology of lower body, demonstration and student practical - home work and case studies required. Students will complete Francesca Gould's Anatomy & Physiology for Holistic Therapists text book and complete relevant assignments as required. Days 4 and 5 of the course will take place 3 and 4 weeks later when students will be assessed.
Approximate time: 10am to 4pm 5 days over 2-3 months.

Reflexology

Works on the principal that the major organs of the body can be treated by massaging specific energy points on the feet. Within the course students will learn the history of reflexology, safe practices, contra indications, consultations and full reflexology procedure.

Introduction to Crystal Therapy

Discover and learn the benefits of crystal therapy through theory and demonstrations from tutors with plenty of hands on practical time and visualisations, meditations and crystal treatments. Some home study and case studies required.
