Professional Beauty Training (PBT) just outside York in North Yorkshire offers a comprehensive range of Holistic and Beauty orientated short courses which are approved by the British Association of Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology (BABTAC) and the Guild of Beauty Therapists (GPBT), as well as a complete range of beauty and holistic treatments, pamper parties, bridal makeovers and mobile treatments.

Our professional health and beauty courses are specially designed so that they are suitable to be undertaken by a wide range of groups including private salons and colleges. We can also offer one to one tuition. Our web site contains details of the courses on offer as well as Special Offers.

PBT mainly carry out our training from our base school in York, although there are also selected courses running near Newcastle as well as 'in spa or in salon' (minimum numbers required). We can also offer one to one training on your premises @ £200 per day any subject.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points can be gained upon attending PBT courses. Alternatively, teacher only sessions can be arranged.

Courses which are structured for total beginners will include a combination of training, case studies, assessment, workshops, and study into relevant anatomy and physiology. Before students can undertake other courses, it may be necessary for them to hold a BABTAC / Guild approved Anatomy & Physiology certificate. If a student does not have one of these or if they have no prior knowledge of beauty, this can be achieved by attending PBT's Anatomy & Physiology course. Refresher courses are the perfect choice for those wanting to; update their skills, return to work or just expand their beauty knowledge. Teaching on refresher courses include demonstrations, seminars and hand-on workshops. PBT's advanced courses are also ideally suited for refreshers or in order to expand knowledge further in subjects such as advanced make-up techniques. You could also choose to gain holistic complementary therapy certificates, including Indian Head Massage.

My name's Joanne Middleton and here's a little bit about my background. On completion of my HNC in Beauty Therapy Management and NVQ in Beauty I set up my own salon in York with the help of the Prince’s Trust. I was one of the first people to be set up on the new scheme and MP Hugh Bailey and The Minister of Education opened my salon!

I built up my client base whilst continuing to study Holistic's and Teaching Certificates. I also worked as an educator for Belle Santé. I fell pregnant with my daughter and the salon owner sold the shop so I went mobile whilst also working freelance as an educator for Salon Systems for 2 years, before creating and having approved my own courses and workshops. I progressed by opening my own private VTCT School for 2 years and gained my A1 and A2 Assessors Awards before falling pregnant with my second son! I decided not to renew the lease and continued teaching my BABTAC and GUILD courses from another venue. I also gained the position of CIBTAC International Examiner. I now continue to work for CIBTAC when required, teach my private courses and run 3 different beauty clinics for clients in York, North Yorkshire. See me on You Tube!
